Drink Up

It’s a new year and we are all on one bandwagon or another. I’m usually the last to jump on and many times the parade is over before I jumped on the wagon. Debi and I are trying to live a more healthy life. You know what they say, “First the natural and then the spiritual”. Things usually happen in the natural realm before they do in the spiritual realm. It makes sense.

Well here is our latest bandwagon. I just pray that I didn’t wait too long! We are discovering the vital importance to our bodies is the proper balance of hydration. Yup, I said it, “Hydration”! Making sure that your body gets enough water so that you can function properly. Most people hate to drink water. Hate is a bad word, let’s say they just don’t prefer water. You and I both know that we are about 75% water and that we each should drink a certain amount of water daily, daily, daily so that our basic body functions can operate smoothly, or correctly which ever you prefer. I’ve read that your brain is 80% water and that with just 2% dehydration it causes drastic side effects. Depression, hallucinations and loss of logical and critical thinking to just name a few. Many mental disorders are attributed to dehydration.

Anybody in their right mind would start drinking water once they read that. Or maybe they wouldn’t because they wouldn’t be in their right mind yet. Well anyway, I have started researching the absolute need our body and our earth depends on water to make things operate as planned by God. Withhold water and you deprive the body the benefits of function at a high level.

That’s the natural, now the spiritual. If our bodies need to be hydrated, what about our spirit? There are many references concerning the Word of God being like water that washes your soul. There is reference made to the washing and regeneration of the Word. The Word is also likened unto Milk that should be craved like a new born baby craves the milk of it’s mother. Without a doubt the Word of God has been likened unto liquids. If our bodies are 75% water, then it would seem a fair assessment that our spirits need 75% spiritual fluid to operate smoothly. If our bodies can become dehydrated it would seem a fair observation that our spirit person could become dehydrated too.

You need to hydrate your body and you need to hydrate your spirit with the Word of God. There’s nothing real deep or emotionally stirring about drinking water. You just do it! There’s nothing particularly deep about you drinking in the word of God! Just do it!

Pick up your glass and get on this band wagon! Pick up your Bible and get on this band wagon! It’s not too late to hydrate yourself into a new you!

Jesus, help us to do ourselves good. Our bodies are your temple so help us to treat ourselves as if we were valuable to you. Create in us a new desire to open your Word and drink it in! Help us to drink up and live. In Jesus name! Amen!   Drink up! Love you!!!
